This post is dedicated to my friend 1banez. I said I'd record some songs for him on his birthday but didn't get around to doing that yesterday. Sorry!!! :( But here they are!
Star Wars - The Force
I wanted to get the original theme but all of the sheet music was so difficult! So..I went with this one. lmao.
Jim Brickman - Angel Eyes
Got this one YEARS ago and always thought it was a pretty song to play. Most of his songs are, actually.
Now for the game stuff (games I've never played lmao)
Lunar: Silver Star Story - Sad Piano Theme
One of the first game themes I've played on piano. Transcribed by Althea Chia from animescores.com. Would be cool to hear a metal version of this *hint hint* lmao.
Xenosaga - Shion
Just a really nice slow song from the game. ^^
Durarara!! [Rookiez is Punk'd] - Complication
I LOVE this song! It's the 2nd ending theme from an anime I'm watching right now - Durarara!! This is just the shorter version of the song..'cos that's all there was to the sheet music. lol.
Last one.. Gundam AGE - B-Bird
Waited for sheet music for this one for a LONG time. It's from the anime I didn't like. lol. The song is by Earthmind. I know this one definitely needs some work. It's not easy playing a song with 6 flats and a screwed up C and D-flat key. lmao.
I didn't think I'd record anymore today but I figured that I'd have to record these at some point. Won't write too much though.
I've been a fan of Jay Chou since my second semester (or was it 3rd?) in college. I believe it was about in 2002 that my friend sent me a couple of his videos. Anyway, this one is from one of the movies he's in - The Curse of the Golden Flower. SO. AWESOME! I highly recommend this one. The song is the ending theme of the movie.
Chrysanthemum Flower Bed
Another Gundam series came out some time ago - Gundam AGE. Watched half an episode, disliked the animation, disliked the story, stopped it. NEVER AGAIN. BUT, I liked this one piano cover I heard of the first ending song. Sheets are by kapibara. There's another song from the series I like - B-Bird by Earthmind. Kapibara's got it transcribed too.
Kimi no Naka no Eiyuu
Last song is from another movie I really liked. A teacher from a music school I used to work at recommended it to me. August Rush. Really good story, really good music. Definitely something you need to check out! :) This sheet music was purchased from Musicnotes.com and was well worth it!
August Rush Medley
That's it for tonight. It's too late to play piano. Don't want to get in trouble with the other tennants! lol. X3
Only did 2 recordings today. Was supposed to do a 3rd - Light's Theme from Death Note, but I need more practice on that one.
Did another Nightwish song - Moon Dance. It was a request from a friend..again. It's not THAT difficult, but at the same time it is. If that makes any sense. I think this is the shortened version of the song too. Got the sheets from DontWorryBeBiaso's channel.
Black Rock Shooter is one of those animes that I don't typically watch. Some girl with a gigantic gun/sword/magic powers/...issues. Yea, not a fan. But I somehow found this song on youtube and really liked it. The sheets were transcribed by Marioverehrer. Sorry about that huge pause 3/4 of the way through though! lol. X3
Not much else to write really. Started watching the Ouran High School Host Club live action drama. SO FUNNY! I think I'm going to go clean my axolotl's tank now. Have a great night everybody! ^^
As the title states, I won't be writing much today. Haven't been feeling too well in the past couple days. Didn't get much sleep last night either. Ever have those times where you're so tired but your brain just won't shut off? That happened last night. -T.T Managed to get some recordings done yesterday though.
First two are by Nightwish.
Amaranth
Nemo
Another one from Kalafina. This time this is from their newest album "After Eden". Fun song to -OMFG @ the upstairs tenants! STOP STOMPING AROUND!! *ahem* Sorry about that...So yea, this is the first track off their 3rd album. Personally, I'm looking for someone to transcribe "Sandpiper", the 2nd track off that album.
Eden
Here's a another K-pop boyband song. Started listening to them a while back on a recommendation of a friend. This was the song he linked me to. The group is called MBLAQ. Look up what it means. It's quite...interesting.
Cry
Last one. I watched this anime many years ago and always liked the soundtrack. It's called Romeo x Juliet. Lol. It's not AS dramatic as the Leo diCaprio and Claire Danes movie. It's a bit more futuristic yet..they live in castles. This BGM was one of the ones I liked the most.
Deai
So..that's it. My 5 videos for the week. Now, I shall go back to sleep.
People were telling me how they were surprised how there weren't any Final Fantasy songs on my channel. So here it is. The Final Fantasy post. Only a couple songs though. Those and 2 non-FF songs.
Still working on the Durarara!! ending song "Trust Me". It's so difficult! It's getting there though. Not much else has been going on really. Baked 2 batches of chocolate chip cookies yesterday and they're nearly gone now 'cos I gave lots away. One bag for someone's birthday, another one for some friends at the mall, and the rest are at home. Anyway, let's go in chronological order, shall we?
Final Fantasy VII - never played it. *eep* I know! I know! I get the "OMFG WHY NOT??" all the time. I just..didn't. lol. This song was also a request from a friend. I only played it once before recording it so I guess it's sort of sight-read.
Aeris' Theme/Aerith's Theme
Final Fantasy VIII - I DID play this on PC..until I found out that there was a glitch in the game. The FIRST mission location WASN'T THERE. So..yea, I stopped playing it. lol. Liked the music from the game. "Eyes on Me" is a classic, but this isn't the next video. It's one that sort of sounds like it.
My Mind
Final Fantasy X and X-2 - I never finished them. Same with X-2. This is when I started running out of patience with RPGs. FFX and X-2's soundtracks are my favourite out of all the FF series. Someone actually borrowed both games and never game them back. Oh well. Not that I can play them now anyway. Only got a PS3 and a PC. The first song "Sky Theme" isn't actually from Final Fantasy X. Someone just made it "Tidus & Yuna's Theme". It's actually a Korean song by a band named Sky. I wish I remembered the name of that song 'cos it's really good. It was transcribed by Althea Chia and was from Animescores.com. Next is "Yuna's Theme" from FFX-2. I think it's the piano collections version and it was transcribed by Pseudo.
Sky Theme
Yuna's Ballad
Now for the non-FF stuff. I re-did Vector to the Heavens 'cos this version sounded more like the original. The sheets were arranged by HypochondriacPiano and transcribed by PeterG-13.
Here's comes the..typical wedding theme song. LMAO. Canon in D. Had this one memorized for years. Thing is, I can't look at the keyboard when I'm playing it anymore. It'll make me screw up. This is a pretty short version of the Canon.
Not sure what's up next for this blog, but I'm sure SOMEONE will give me a request..or 6. lol. Have a great weekend everyone! ^^
Thanks to all of you who watched my videos and got me to a total of 1000+ views!!! You are all AWESOME! I'm still working on a few requests..like the Zelda Theme. Can't seem to find good sheet music for it. Well, one that I can play without a ton of mistakes anyway. lol. So I've got 5 more videos today for you and they don't really fall under 1 category except "Random". :p
Here we goooo!
First up, 2 songs from Ayashi no Ceres. The first one is "Scarlet" which was sung by Iwao Junko and is the opening song for the anime. This was actually one of the very first anime songs I started playing on piano and that was probably back in..2000? I actually didn't watch the series until 2008 lmao. X3 The series was odd, but I liked it. The sheets were transcribed by Althea Chia and were from Animescores.com. It's not longer a website, but a forum.
The song after this one is "Starless and Celestial Black" by Toshiro Masuda. I got 2 of the soundtracks for my birthday one year - probably around the same time I started playing "Scarlet" on piano. Always thought the BGMs were nice and I used to study/do homework listening to them. Anyway, the sheets for this song were transcribed by Liz Xu Wilson and you can find it on her site.
Scarlet
Starless and Celestial Black
Got another Gackt one for you Gackt fans! lol. I know. The Gacktmania seems to never end, right? X3 It did end actually. I started listening to Marianas Trench, Lin, Matthew Good Band, and Bush. :p This was a request from a friend. Hadn't played this one in a long time 'cos the sheets were buried under the current mountain of piano sheets I have. They're scans and I can't remember where I got them from. You can probably find them on Google though.
Saikai Story
First time I heard this next song, it was a remix by Tiesto. Then I heard the piano cover the other day and got the sheets 'cos it sounded so pretty. It's called "Hide & Seek" by Imogen Heap. This was arranged by ModistOne and transcribed by Kuni Ito. You can find that sheets on tilt1981's youtube channel.
This next one is one song I've been trying to find sheets for for a looong time. Maybe a year or so. It's by Marianas Trench and is called "Beside You". They have such good love songs and I want them ALL for piano! Still looking for "Good to You" and "Ever After". If anybody has these or knows where to get them, please let me know! ^^ The sheets were transcribed by PromisesAreBroken and can be found on her channel. She did an EXCELLENT job on the transcription!
I'm still working on "Trust Me" by Yuuya Matsushita, the opening from Durarara!! Well, that and Bios by Mika Kobayashi. So difficult but still so awesome to play. X3
It's been far too long since I posted for my liking! Today there are 5 videos and I think in a couple of them you'll be able to tell what's wrong with my keyboard. If you didn't notice..AWESOME! X3 One key plays louder than the rest of them in case you were curious to know. And I can never tell when it will happen either.
Started listening to a new visual kei band named LIN. They like Versailles in a way. Meaning, the song style and the costumes. I got the Independent MAZE album and it's a-MAZE-ing. ahaha see what I did there? I just made a TERRIBLE joke! -_-'
Also started watching a new tv show - Grimm. Hunting down demon-like monsters? HELL YEA! I highly recommend that show to anybody who's interested in creepy, mystery action tv shows. ^^
And now for the music!
Wanted to start this off with one of the longer ones I played today. And most difficult of the 5. Uninstall by Chiaki Ishikawa. This is the opening song for Bokurano...and anime I don't recall actually finishing. I know I was close to finishing it though and I also remember losing interest 'cos I started watching Elfen Lied, Loveless, and Spice + Wolf. Only finished the first two of those as well. Too many on my anime plate? *nods* Yes, I believe so. lol. I digress..this arrangement is by Thayne Bohman and you can find a lot of awesome sheet music on Thayne's website. ^^
Next two are by Kalafina, a trio whose music I became obsessed with after hearing the ending and insert songs from Kuro Shitsuji, as well as the ending theme from Eve no Jikan [Time of Eve]. I highly recommend ALL their albums! And if you like them, you'll probably also like FictionJunction and Yuki Kajiura's other works. First song is called "haru wa ougon no yume" and is from Kalafina's Red Moon album. The next one is also off the Red Moon album and is an insert song in Kuro Shitsuji. That one is called "kagayaku sora no shijima ni wa". Both arrangements are from the Kalafina piano sheet book and I got it from CD Japan.
Haru wa Ougon no Yume
Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa
Chrono Crusade. I know I said this a lot, but this is a game that I haven't played. I'm told that it's one of the best games my friend has ever played. I'm *pretty* sure they don't make this for the PS3 and besides, my RPG playing days are over. I'll just stick with the music. This song though, Sayonara Soltaire by Saeko Chiba, is FANTASTIC! I've been looking for an arrangement of this for almost FIVE YEARS!! You can imagine my reaction when I saw it on Stockburn78's channel. The arrangement is by Dave Peppiatt.
I was in my high school choir. For one year. Only. LMAO. I had taken music class in my senior year and was told that I'd lose participation marks or something if I didn't join choir. And that is what I did. I don't regret it though. It was actually fun. I was even on the radio playing the piano accompaniment for Little Drummer Boy when our choir went to Hotel Vancouver to sing Christmas carols! Wow, was that ever stressful! Good thing that song was mega-easy. lmao. Another thing was that I was asked to be an instrumentalist for the school play that the Drama club (or class..I forget which) was doing. Secret Garden. I still had some of the sheet music so I thought I'd play it for you listeners. I wasn't the pianist for the play, if that's what you were thinking. I was just the keyboard player who just played the chords over the piano and violin to...make it sound..fuller? I have no idea, honestly. lol. I also got to play the chimes at certain parts of the songs. You know, the glisten-y chimes that you hear in some songs? Yea..THAT. So here's the exit music for that play.
Looks like I've made this blog long enough. No more words from me. lol. Thanks for listening and watching! ^^
So Superbowl Sunday is here once more and once more I am not watching it 'cos I don't watch football. Only watched ONE football game in my entire life. It wasn't even our team - BC Lions. lol.
Anyway, this post is just a couple songs from a game, Asian pop music, and songs from 2 Asian dramas.
Let's begin with the game. Uncharted 2. Never played it. This was a suggestion from a friend. Yea..lots of friends' requests. I know. I'm happy to get them though! ^^
Nate's Theme
Now for some K-pop! Superjunior. Never had I seen so many guys in one boyband before these guys! TWELVE GUYS! I really liked their first album. I don't remember what happened but I stopped following k-pop music so I didn't listen to a lot of their newer songs. Then I heard this one: No Other. The music video was really cute and the song was catchy. I heard a different piano cover version so this cover I did is a mix of that and the sheet music from Aelymusic.
No Other
So in that break between not listening to K-pop, there was a lot of anime music and J-pop. This one I just found by chance last night. Tomohisa Yamashita's name popped up and the title of the song was called "Loveless". I liked the anime Loveless and I also liked Tomohisa Yamashita. Really liked the song though. I can't remember for the life of me remember HOW I found this guy online. Maybe it had something to with the boyband, NEWS. Idk. lol.
Loveless
Now for the drama... I used to really be into Korean dramas when I was in high school and college. Always liked the music that was in it too. I even got obsessed with one when I was in Hawaii on vacation with my family!! LMAO X3 That one was called Bool Sae [Phoenix].
Guang Liang. I've never watched this one, but I've heard good things about it. I was actually looking for sheet music from Autumn Fairy Tale and this one came up. Thought it sounded nice so I got the sheets for this one instead. The transcription is by Snomits.
This last video I'm posting comes from a drama called "I'm Sorry, I Love You". Never watched this one either. Also heard good things about this one. lmao. This song was a request by a friend. Not sure if this actually sounds like what it's supposed to, but I hope it's close. X3 And this IS the full version. Didn't want to record it twice. :p
Still taking requests and accepting any sheet music you're willing to send to me so I can try my best at them and record them for you. ^^
More anime piano covers! YEY! ^^ This will probably be the longest entry I've written since I started this. So I'll try not to rant TOO much.
First 2 are from Gundam SEED. I never *really* got into this series since I've decided that all Gundam series are the same. Please don't flame me too bad for that comment! lol. I got 4 episodes into the series..both Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny.
Theme of Tears
Kanashimi
Sailor Moon R: The Movie. C'mon, you knew it was coming. OF COURSE there's bound to be a Sailor Moon song or two...or 5 in my sheet music collection. LMAO. I honestly DID like all the Sailor Moon movies though. I won't deny that. I chose the shortest song I had to record first.
Mamoru to Fiore
Studio Ghibli. Awesome movies, awesome music. Here are 2 I really like. Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away. These were done for a friend since he said he really liked the music from the movies.
Mononoke Hime
Inochi no Namae
This next one is from Rurouni Kenshin, one of my favourite animes. All the music from this series is great! Can't wait for the live-action that comes out this summer!! It looks sooo good! :D
I actually don't remember if I've seen an entire episode of Inuyasha or not. I know I like 2 ending songs from it - Dearest and My Will. Only did the cover for Dearest by Ayumi Hamasaki though. This used to be one of the 2 Japanese songs I sang at karaoke too. Good times those were... lol.
Not sure what the next post will be, but I've got a request for another Gackt piano cover. Seki-ray. So, I guess that will be in the next post. Maybe I'll throw Sekai Story in there too. Gacktmania..part...3? lmao.
Yep. Still on my Gackt trip. I know it hasn't been that long, but I just can't stop listening to and playing his songs! Apologies in advance for the first 2 videos. I was doing sight-reading and thought to record it. Practicing and re-recording them is a possibility. When that will happen, who knows?
*SIGHT-READING* Etude - I *probably* should've listened to the song right before playing this. Might've helped me pick out the notes better and the timing would be closer to the original. I'm not exactly sure who the sheets are by. Nothing is stated on the sheet music other than the title and "Gackt" as the artist. Got the sheets here, though.
*SIGHT-READING*Todokanai ai to shitteiru no ni Osaekirezuni aishitsuzuketa - I actually played this one before recording Etude. These sheets were from the same site as Etude and are scans. I'm sorry for all the mistakes. Listening to my own playing makes me cringe too. ><
Paranoid Doll - Only one I didn't sight-read today. It's so difficult yet it's SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY!! Too bad I sort of lost it about halfway into the song. Wish I could use the excuse that "I was just sight-reading", but I won't lie to you viewers and listeners out there. Got the sheets from this blog. She did an AMAZING job at transcribing this song! Kudos to her! ^^
I'm looking for the chords and/or sheet music to Oblivious by Gackt. If anybody has the lead sheet with the chords, can you please send them to me or let me know where I can get them? Thanks! ^^
I'm working up to another Gackt piano cover post but it seems I'll need more practice on all the sheet music I just got. Also currently working on getting better at playing Bios by Mika Kobayashi from Ao no Exorcist [Blue Exorcist]. The arrangement I got is from Animenz and the difficulty level was labelled as "Insane". Great. Maybe I'll just re-write some of it..in my head. lol.
ANYWAY..that's not the point of today's post. Today, there are 2 songs from 2 games I've never played but I like the music.
First: Reflections OC Remix from Shenmue. Oh, Sega Dreamcast, how I miss thee. Good times those were. Had over 40 games for Dreamcast back then, but I only played like..4. Soul Calibur II, Dead or Alive 2, and Tony Hawk 2. Played the random games collaboration games like Spawn and Rainbow Six with my cousins a couple times. Uh..right..SHENMUE. I've only watched my cousin play this one. Thought this was the coolest-looking game EVER. The music was really nice. Very Asian-inspired and flowing. This one was arranged by Reuben Kee and transcribed by Delldongo.
Ok, I was mistaken. I HAVE played Halo 2 but didn't actually get far enough to hear this song in the game. lol. I got to the point where I kept dying ('cos I suck at these games) and gave up. I don't think I got very far in the game either. Maybe like less than a quarter of the way through. LMAO. Yea..I'm terrible. X3 I may do another version of this later - one with the dual "voices" on my digital piano. We'll see. This was also transcribed by Delldongo.
After this post, I hope to have another Gackt one. Paranoid Doll is insanely difficult, but insanely fun to play. X3 I guess you'll have to stay tuned and see what pops up next on this blog! Thanks to all those who have checked my blog out and to those who commented/followed. You guys and dolls are awesome! ^^
So I decided to record a bit of sight-reading today. Weird thing is, I made less mistakes in THESE than the ones I actually practiced. Maybe it was 'cos these sheets were relatively easy and short. Hmmm..idk. LMAO.
You viewers and listeners out there maybe pleased to find that the lighting is WAY better in these videos since the sun's out today and I changed the position of the camera. Less clicking and squeaking too. Well, maybe not LESS. It's just not as loud. :p
As stated in the title of this post, all these songs are from an anime called Jigoku Shoujo [hell girl]. The first season was good, 2nd season was alright, 3rd season...I dropped it after about 4 episodes. If you're going to create a new season, at least make it a BIT different from the 1st season! lol. This anime is basically Deathnote online but with less options.
Aizome - this is the ending theme to the 2nd season of Jigoku Shoujo.
Kumo to Rouba to Shoujo
Yasashii Kimochi
Sakasama no Chou - this is the opening of the 1st season of Jigoku Shoujo
Shiawase
I am currently in my little fit of Gacktmania. Currently trying to learn Paranoid Doll on piano. IT'S SO MUCH FUN TO PLAY! X3
If anyone has piano sheets for Oblivion by Gackt, please send them to me. I've LOVE to play that one! ^^
Now that I've had dinner and talked and such, I can now continue what I was going to say about the videos I just posted. But..at the same time, my mind is almost a bit blank. Maybe it's because I'm a bit tired. Hmm...
So yea..Skyrim. I liked the piano synthesia solo version I saw on youtube. I haven't played the game 'cos I don't play those types of games. Yes, I've heard all the "arrow to the knee" jokes. Those got oversaid and overplayed about 2 weeks after the release of the game. lol. First time I played this song on piano, my hands hurt 'cos of all the big chords. Wasn't used to doing that. It was the same way with playing Gackt's Redemption the first couple times. All in all, the Skyrim trailer theme is pretty epic. Epic..which is how it's supposed to be played. I kid you not, the sheet music says "Like Epic". LMAO. The sheets are by Taioo.
I re-recorded Sad Romance from the Over the Green Fields OST but this time it's the full version. The full version only really being maybe 30 seconds longer than the first "shorter" version I played. It was a request from a friend so I said "OK". Still a lovely song, but if someone asks me to re-record it again without mistakes..I'll only say "maybe". The arrangement can be found on fiftyvinh's youtube channel.
Denshou from the anime AIR was a really nice song. This is the piano solo version from the RE-Feel Arrange album. The song has this lightness and sadness to it. The whole album does actually. I highly recommend both the original AIR soundtracks (there are 2) as well as the Re-Feel Album. The arrangement I have is by Sperion.
Last but not least, GACKT. Yep, I've got many Gackt sheets. I hadn't really heard this song for a looong time. Years maybe. Really nice to play on piano. The sheets I have are scans and I'm not sure where I got them from. They can probably be found if you search for them.
That's all for now. Time to go into rib and pasta coma. ^^
Don't have a lot of time to write a lot right now. Making ribs and I have company at our apartment. So I'm just going to list them and write more when I get the chance to.
Over the Green Hills OST - Sad Romance (FULL version)
This was requested by a friend because he wanted to hear the full version play by me..and no one else. So I had to do it.
Every now and then I like to try new things out..other than new songs on piano. Things like recipes, food, games, books..etc. New things I tried this week..
Blueberry juice infused Craisins. Neat, right? Yea, that's what I thought too. Need idea for sure. Different, for sure. Good? Um..leaning more towards "not really". It only took 3 of those craisins for me to close the bag and not open it again. This was a couple days ago, btw. The blueberry juice is just too overpowering. I'm sure that if I can get past that, I'll be throwing them back like they're nothing. Maybe I should make muffins with them. Hmm..suggestions, anyone?
New recipe from last week: Vegan Red Velvet Cupcakes. I had to substitute baking powder for baking soda because I didn't have any vinegar for the baking soda to react with. They rose just fine and iced them with some Duncan Hines chocolate frosting. These were made for that Taco Potluck party I had last Saturday. I was told that they were good. I didn't try ANY of them. Didn't feel like it.
Hm..thought I tried more new things than just those 2 in the past 2 weeks. Ah well. Maybe I just can't think of them right now. I'm sure it'll come to me when least expected.
So I had another potluck dinner at our place again. Make Your Own Pizza was the theme. It was the 2nd pizza-type potluck I've held here. Made the same type of dough and the same sauce. Guests brought toppings. They were probably some of the healthiest pizzas I've ever seen made. lol. Watched Spirited Away then started Howl's Moving Castle but we didn't get too far with that movie since it was getting late. Good times all 'round though. Especially since it turned into a pizza/birthday party for one of the guests. They brought a tiramisu cake with them. Yumm!! I'll definitely need to work all that unhealthiness off today! X3
Got more recordings for you, listeners!
This first one is called Sad Romance from the Over the Green Fields soundtrack. I'm guessing it's a Vietnamese drama or a movie. I don't really quite know how I stumbled upon this one. It might have had to do with the title "Sad Romance". I've found that songs with the same title are generally nice to listen to. And this one was. Found this arrangement on fiftyvinh's channel. I played the shortened version of this.
This one's from an anime I watched last year with a friend. Trinity Blood. Definitely an interesting anime. Yes...vampires AGAIN -.- I'm not going to explain myself other than I am not a Twilighter. I really liked the ending song and I got this arrangement from Josh's site. Even though I watched this sometime before the summer, it somehow reminds me of winter. Odd how that is.
Fate/Zero. I liked Fate/Stay Night but this new one..not so much. It was too slow for my liking. I did like the opening song though. lol. I like a lot of songs by Lisa actually as well as songs that have beautiful orchestral openings. Got this arrangement from Animenz. I do apologize for basically trashing the second half of this song. I'll have to practice it more and maybe re-record it. This is also the TV edit version.
This is the theme from the trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. One of my friends asked if I could play something from Deus Ex then linked me to the youtube video for the trailer. It reminded me of the theme "Surface of the Sun" that was featured in the movie Sunshine and season 1 of The Walking Dead. Found the sheets for it somewhere on youtube and this arrangement is by Mitchell Ormann.
Last, but not least, Primavera by Ludovico Einaudi. Someone asked if I had heard of this composer. I had not. So he linked me to this song that he thought sounded nice and asked if I could play it. It was a very nice sounding song and I found the sheets..somewhere. I know I google searched it and found it. They're scans from the piano book, I'm guessing. Got a few others by him as well - all very similar but also very soothing and nice to play.
Thanks to all those who have been commenting on my youtube videos! And thanks to all you listeners who have been viewing my recordings. Much appreciated! ^^
That's right. I made dumplings, soup, and chocolate chip cookies today. Not mixed together. That would be disgusting. Inbetween cookie batches in the oven, I recorded a couple songs - all totally random categories.
First up: Mosaic from Shiki. This anime was GREAT! It's another vampire one. And let me just say this, I am NOT a Twilighter or a Twigh-hard or whatever the hell you call the people obsessed with Twilight are. I dislike most of the vampire shows that are out on TV right now. ANYWAY..Shiki. Yea, awesome, creepy anime ^^ One of the highlights of my summer. lol.
To follow one creepy anime, let's go with another semi-creepy anime. Kuro Shitsuji!! Otherwise known as Black Butler in English. Definitely one of my favourites and a highlight of 2011. So much so that I actually watched this series THREE TIMES. Yes..THREE! BOTH SEASONS. lmao. I'm sure all you Kuro Shitsuji fans out there know the reason why. X3
Anyway, the song's called Si Deus Me Relinquit and it's by Taku Iwasaki. You may know him from his music in Rurouni Kenshin, Witch Hunter Robin, R.O.D, and more. I was so happy to find the sheet music for this on TweedleDee's channel. Sorry that I can't play it as well as most people on youtube though. I guess I just need more practice on this one. Gotta give me SOME credit though. Before recording this, I hadn't played this song for a good 6 months or more.
Now for another sad sounding song. Roxas from Kingdom Hearts. I absolutely LOVE the whole piano collections from this game! Massive amounts of clicking, I must warn warn you - mistakes too. Definitely need to practice this more! I don't remember where I got the sheets. They're scans so I'm sure you can just search for them and you'll be able to find them. And to answer your questions, no, I have not played any of the games. At the time of its release, I wasn't interested in playing it. I'm more of the Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, Tekken kind of gamer. I did play the odd Final Fantasy game (only 2). lol. Without further ranting about Disney/Square Enix, here's the video:
Saved the best for last: VERSAILLES!! My favourite visual kei band EVER. I just jumped head first into this group after seeing a promotional ad for their album Jubilee in an e-mail I got from CD Japan. I love their costumes, music, and how good they are live. That last bit doesn't mean I actually saw them in concert since they've never come to North America. I saw their live sets on youtube. SO amazing!
This piano cover of Serenade isn't complete. It's basically just the first 2 verses and my playing the chorus twice as well..then I end it. I was transcribing (or rather, copying) the notes from the full band score that I had found in a forum. I never finished it 'cos I had other things to do..and the band score was maybe 11+ pages long. It was difficult even though I was just copying notes. I'll finish it one day..maybe. I'd like to play some of their newer songs; songs from their Holy Grail album. Also, there's a song from Jubilee that I wanted to get sheets for. The song is called EPISODE and someone on youtube had it transcribed. All I had to do was PM her with my e-mail address and she'd send it to me. Yea..I don't have it. Unfortunate. Maybe I'll figure that one out sometime. WHOA..hang on there, back to Serenade. THAT'S that song I'm playing in this video. If you watched the music video, you'll find that they have some pretty wicked costumes and that Hizaki makes a pretty girl. And that Kamijo (the lead singer) seems like a bit of a creeper. LMAO.
Versailles actually got me into listening to A LOT of other j-rock/visual kei bands. Some of those include Matenrou Opera, Mannequin, Exist+trace, Blood Stain Child, LM.C, and so many more.
Before I stray off topic even MORE, here's the video:
Thanks to everyone who gave me requests. I'm still looking for sheets for a couple of them. Plumb, Roberto Cacciaglia, ande Peter Bradly Adams. So if anyone has these, can you please help me out and send them to me or let me know where to find them? Thanks! Keep those requests comin'! I'll do my best to fulfill them all. ^^
I got a request from a friend to play Fall for You by Secondhand Serenade. I already had the sheet music so I recorded this for her. I think I did a pretty horrendous job at this one. SORRY, K!! :( Got the sheets from Iwillbot. He's got a lot of good arrangements so check out his Youtube channel when you've got the chance. ^^
This next one is the ending song from an anime called Loveless. As screwed up and twisted as it was, I really liked it. Maybe it had something to do with the cats ears. haha. This piece was arranged by Josh Agarrado.
I got another request from that same friend to play a song called "In My Arms" by Plumb. Problem is, I can't really play song unless I have the sheet music. So, if anyone has the sheets for this, can you please share them with me? I'd be ever so grateful, and so would my friend. Thanks! ^^
Yes, I love Gackt. lol. He's like a Japanese David Bowie, but younger and..yea..younger. X3 Difficult not to love his music. That one movie he was in with Hyde was awesome! I'm not usually into the whole vampire movie thing but this one was really good. It's called Moonchild. Great soundtrack too. ^^
This post was only meant to have Last Song since I wanted to play it for my friend. Couldn't at the time 'cos my digital piano was screwed up. Not that it's not screwed up right now, what with the clicking keys, the squeaking of the sustain pedal, and that one messed up key. ANYWAY..I decided to turn this into an all Gackt piano cover post. Definitely got a lot of mistakes in these ones. Without further ado..here they are:
Seki~ray (shortened version)
Redemption - I love the music video. Gackt gets taken out by a giant bird. Lmao. Shouldn't have been standing on that windowsill, buddy. X3
OK, so I just realized how bad that title looked. lmao. It has to do with my digital piano, NOTHING ELSE. I do not own a rodent or a bird. That squeaking you hear in the videos is the sustain pedal. And once again, the clicking is due to the age of the digital piano (I'm guessing).
I had planned for my next post to be Gackt piano covers but it seems that I will need to practice those a lot more before I record them and post them. Goal is to get the recorded and posted by Friday this week. For today, I decide to record 2 short theme covers.
First off is the the Ending Theme from 5 Centimeters per Second. Beautiful artwork and animation and a very touching storyline. I highly recommend it. There are similar movies to this one which I love - Kumo no Mukou [Beyond the Clouds], and Hoshi no Koe [Voices of a Distant Star]. In addition to these being wonderful movies, the soundtracks are amazing. All 3 movies feature music by Tenmon. This cover was arranged by lindestinel.
The second video for today's post is "Mebius" from a game called Infinite Space for the DS. I have never played this game, as I don't own a DS. Just to prove how old skool I am, I had the Nintendo Brick and the Gameboy Color Pokemon Yellow Edition..back when it was cool. lmao. I digress... This arrangement was by Marioverehrer.
If you liked what you saw, please comment and subscribe ^^
So yea..this is a really old blog. A friend of mine told me I should start a piano blog. This was the same friend who got me into recording and uploading my videos to Youtube. So far I have 8 videos uploaded - all of them are unedited so all of them have mistakes. It's not that I don't practice, it's just that I have a lot of stuff to play and I only play each song once. Unless I really like it. The first video I'm posting is one of my newer uploads. This is for the Twilight: Breaking Dawn SOUNDTRACK fans. I really do like this song by Christina Perri - A Thousand Years. The movie...not so much. I only watched it because I have to continue on with the series. I've always been a sucker for movie/anime/tv show/game soundtracks.
Point of this blog? To share my piano adventures with you and to maybe get a few requests from you. I'm willing to play and record any sheet music you submit to me - provided it's not in the most difficult key imaginable (like C-flat major or something only a 12-fingered person could play). Always welcome to comments as well - but please try not to be too mean. I really do try my best when I'm playing piano.
